Roswell, GA (January 4, 2017) — Well-respected Roswell baseball coach and United States Air Force veteran Shawn Wright today announced his candidacy for the vacated Roswell City Council seat Post 4 At-Large seat.

“Our city needs a leader who can rise above the single issue political divisions and serve all of Roswell”, said Shawn Wright. “Roswell stands at a crossroads. The decisions made by our City Council impacts our future. We need a leader who will Lead, Serve and Unite all of Roswell. As City Councilman, I will seek input from anyone and any group willing to come together and find common ground solutions for the good of our city.”

As the Eastern regional director for a Christian non-profit, Shawn demonstrates his leadership skills daily in his work with people from over 50 countries and multiple ethnicities. Shawn served for seven years in the United States Air Force and lived in Europe during that time. He participated in Operation Provide Comfort, which provided security and food for displaced Kurdish people after Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Wright also serves on the Board for Roswell Assembly of God –a Church with a congregation of more than 20 different nationalities.

Shawn is active in the Roswell baseball community and has coached baseball for the Roswell Youth Baseball Association (RYBA) at all levels,in addition to serving as Secretary of the RYBA Board of Directors. During the spring and fall, Shawn is a regular on Roswell’s baseball fieldsa s he leads all RYBA and several summer advanced baseball camps for the City of Roswell.

“Leadership, service, and unity are pillars of Wright’s campaign,” said Steven Eppinger. “His servant-leader style has been reinforced through his service to our nation and through his self-selected career of serving people in need. He will be one of the best councilmen Roswell has seen and I am proud to serve on his campaign.”

Members of the Wright campaign committee include: Howard Janis, chairman; Steven Eppinger, treasurer, and Vinith Victor and Jay Phifer, local businessmen.

Shawn is a father of five and grandfather of four. He is married to Jean Wright who is also a veteran. Shawn’s oldest son served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and his son-in-law serves in the Army National Guard.
